The Government of Assam has announced the Special Assam TET 2026 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for Lower Primary and Upper Primary levels in Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar medium schools. This exam is for candidates aspiring to teach in these regional language schools.

Eligibility Criteria for Assam TET 2026
Residentship: Candidate must be a permanent resident of the State of Assam.
Qualifications:
Lower Primary TET (Classes I-V): Senior Secondary (50% marks) + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or equivalent.
Upper Primary TET (Classes VI-VIII): Graduation (50% marks) + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, or equivalent.
Reserved category candidates receive a 5% relaxation in academic marks .
Apply Fees
Candidates need to pay a specific amount of money as examination fee to complete the online application process. Examination fee needs to paid online. Details regarding this are provided below-

Exam Pattern
Paper I (Lower Primary): 150 MCQs, 2.5 hours, covering Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I (Bodo/Garo/Manipuri/Hmar), Language II (English), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper II (Upper Primary): 150 MCQs, 2.5 hours, covering Child Development & Pedagogy, Language I (Bodo/Garo/Manipuri/Hmar), Language II (English), and either Mathematics & Science or Social Science.
No negative marking applies .
TET Exam Centres and Centre Codes
Candidates have to select Centre District at the time of submission of online application for appearing in Special Assam TET. Candidate will have to select one Centre District only.
