Qualification Required
(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy:- 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy:- 12th Class pass with Physics. Chemistry and Mathematics of the 10+2 patters of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination

UPSC NDA 2026 Selection Process
The UPSC NDA 2026 recruitment process is conducted through multiple stages to select suitable candidates for admission into the National Defence Academy. Applicants must successfully clear every stage to secure final selection.
1. Written Examination
The first stage is the NDA written exam conducted by UPSC. The exam consists of two papers:-
➜ Mathematics – 300 Marks
➜ General Ability Test (GAT) – 600 Marks
Candidates need to score the required cut-off marks to qualify for the next stage.
2. SSB Interview Round
Shortlisted candidates are invited for the Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview. This stage evaluates a candidate’s personality, intelligence, leadership qualities, communication skills, and decision-making ability through different tests and group activities.
3. Medical Fitness Test
Candidates recommended by the SSB must undergo a detailed medical examination. The medical test ensures that applicants meet the physical and health standards required for defence services.
4. Final Merit List
The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the Written Exam and SSB Interview, subject to qualifying the medical examination. Selected candidates are then offered admission to the NDA training programme.
